Astro Orbiter Now Closed for Refurbishment in Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Astro Orbiter in Tomorrowland doesn’t seem to get enough love. Do you love riding it or hate the thought of flying over 100 feet in the air? Well, that debate won’t matter for a few months, as the aerial carousel-style ride is now closed for refurbishment.
Officially Disney World website has it listed: Pilot a spaceship high in the sky amid a gleaming constellation of planets. Astro Orbiter will be temporarily closed for refurbishment beginning January 13, 2025, and is planned to reopen in the summer of 2025.
That means at the minimum Astro orbiter will be down 5 months, and could be as long as 8 months. This brings to total of rides now under refurbishment to four as of today, and a total of 5 rides and attractions down starting January 20th, 2025, when Hall of Presidents joins the list. In the Magic Kingdom alone that will mean, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Astro Orbiter and Hall of Presidents will all be unavailable to guests.
Refurbishments are nothing new at this time of year, this would be considered the slower season, and trust us, with how many guests are visiting, you have to take advantage when the slower season comes.

Today also marked the official closing of Dinoland USA Dino-Rama! section as phase one of the planned retheme into Tropical Americas started at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
