Universal Orlando Drops a Meteor on Disney World over Dinoland USA Extinction in new Social Media Posts. Jurassic Park -vs- Dinoland USA is the head-to-head battle on social media today, with Universal Orlando coming out swinging at Disney over the closure of Dino-Rama! in Dinoland USA at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
If you are a fan of either Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando, or like most people are a fan of both, then we are sure you pay attention to the Instagram and X (formally Twitter) of both theme parks. Today Universal Orlando’s social media team did not hold back from going directly to Disney World in two posts about Dinosaurs.
So far there has been no response from Disney Parks social media, and it is highly doubtful there will be one.
Universal Orlando’s Instagram Post – “Plenty of dinosaurs to go around, folks” with images of Jurassic Park and the famous T-Rex.
This was followed up by an X post by Universal Orlando – “If only there was a theme park with a dinosaur themed area, rides and dinos you can meet — oh wait”
Why today? The answer is that Phase One of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Dinoland USA retheme to Tropical Americas started today. Disney officially closed the Dino-Rama! section of Dinoland USA which consisted of Triceratops Spin, Fossil Fun Games, the World’s Largest Pin Truck, and Chester and Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures Store.
Dinoland USA will forever go extinct from Disney Park in the next year, with the Dinosaur attraction and ride being rethemed to Indiana Jones, the Boneyard will become the new home of a Disney Animal Carousel, and the Dino-Rama section will be the home of a brand new Encanto Casita.
Meanwhile, over at Universal Isle of Adventure Park, Jurassic Park has been updated recently to include one of the world’s best roller coasters, the Velocicoaster. You can meet and greet Blue the Velociraptor at Raptor Encounter, get wet on Jurassic Park River Adventure, take the kids flying on Pteradon Flyers, and visit the Jurassic Park Discovery Center.
