Walls Up as Dinoland USA Phased Closures Begin at Disney's Animal Kingdom

Walls Up as Dinoland USA Phased Closures Begin at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. So it begins, what Disney Imagineering is calling Phase One of the Dinoland USA retheme. Closing forever yesterday was Triceritop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama!, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures. The whole area known as Dino-Rama! is now walled off and extinct.

You can now see construction walls, and planter walls have been installed around the Dino-Rama! section of Dinoland USA in Animal Kingdom. Every Disney fan knows the go-away green color that we used. The walls extend from Cement-a-saurus (apparently that is the name of the giant green dinosaur according to a Cast Member), the large dinosaur that overlooks the area, around Triceratops Spin, and over to the Donald’s Dino-Bash meet and greet area.

Disney Imagineering has added a little whimsy to the walls, as you can see below in the image, with sayings like “Squirrel!” with a shadow image of Dug from Pixar’s UP!, and “Change is Good” with an outline shadow image of Rafiki from Disney’s The Lion King.

If you wish to go back and see some images from the area please follow the link here.

What did we lose with the Phase One construction beginning?

No longer will guests be able to step back in time to a bygone era of paleontological wonder at Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama! This vibrant corner of Dinoland U.S.A. bursts with the energy of a classic American roadside carnival. Imagine a time when dinosaur discoveries ignited both scientific curiosity and pure, unadulterated excitement. This quirky land captures that spirit, with colorful games, whimsical rides, and a playful dinosaur motif that will have you roaring with delight. It’s as if the golden age of paleontology collided head-on with a carnival midway, resulting in a truly unique and unforgettable experience.

What is replacing Dinoland USA which is due to open in 2027?

Just like Harambe, the land feels lived in, with a long, rich history — plus there’s a large hacienda which will be one of the largest quick-service restaurants at Walt Disney World Resort.

The space will be lush and sprawling, featuring a large fountain in the center where the villagers like to gather and tell stories. Additionally, a woodcarver has created a giant working carousel featuring his favorite animals from Disney stories. It’s a new take on a classic attraction that young families are going to love.

That’s not all that will be located here – the new land will include not one but two signature attractions!

Encanto: If you’re a fan of drawers, floors, and doors, let’s go! The first-ever “Encanto”-themed ride-through attraction is coming to Animal Kingdom, featuring the beloved Madrigal family from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film. Inside the Casita, Antonio has just received his special gift — the ability to communicate with animals — and his room has transformed into a rainforest. It’s time to go explore alongside him, and you never know what member of the family you might bump into…
