Test Track Refurbishment Continues: Epcot Attraction Now Reopening Later in 2025. Disney World’s Test Track ride has been closed for nearly a year now. From every report that Disney Imagineering and Disney Parks have released, the timeline for the ride’s refurbishment to be completed has been Summer 2025, then it was moved to late summer 2025. Now, it has been updated again on the official Test Track website to just 2025.
Updated – Disney may have updated the wording on the website, but we may be wrong in our thinking in this article! Signs are pointing to a much closer opening than we speculate on in this article. We will update later today with new information, especially since the construction walls may be removed any time now. We will have images and news to update everyone.
Originally, this is what was posted August 11, 2024: “Buckle up for a brand-new experience when a reimagined Test Track presented by Chevrolet races into EPCOT in 2025.”
Then it was updated a few months ago December 3rd, 2024, to read: “Get ready to feel the thrill of the open road, the wind in your hair, and nothing but adventure ahead! Test Track presented by General Motors is making its return lap late summer 2025. Walt Disney Imagineering has been working with General Motors on an all-new storyline – you’ll want to be all buckled in for an adventure. You might even see cars returning to the track (for testing…at Test Track…nice) with their new look early in the year!”
Now May 29th, 2025, here is what the website has listed: “Test Track Presented by Chevrolet is being reimagined and is currently closed. The attraction will reopen in 2025. Please check back later for updates.” The Disney website has removed the Late Summer 2025 from the website.
Even with the Test Track cars being tested weekly, the opening is still not known. We were at Epcot today and got some new images of the construction progress. The new exterior harkens back to the original pavilion design. The new Lightning Lane, Single Rider Line, and Guests entrance signs were being finished, while the new Test Track Marquee has been installed and is behind plastic and not visible yet.
Updated 6/4/2025 – Walt Disney Imagineering has posted: A marquee moment indeed! Installation of the new marquee at Test Track presented by @generalmotors has begun! The design echoes the attraction’s architecture, while incorporating the new logo in illuminated letters that will look amazing both day and night.
New show scenes will be added showcasing technological advances and how our lifestyles and relationships to mobility connect everyone. Enjoy a joy ride through scenes focusing on onboard technology, customization, and personalization. Followed by a trip through a scenic outdoor route, reminding us all of the joys of driving, taking in the world around us, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Cruise over to the gleaming Chevrolet Design Center to create your virtual concept car. When you’re done, buckle up in a 6-passenger “SIM Car” and take it for an exhilarating spin on the test track.
Rev through rough terrain and obstacles along the winding circuit. Accelerate through straightaways, maneuver switchbacks through inclement weather, hug curves banked at 50-degree angles, and scale hills up to 3 stories high.
Reach speeds of up to 65 miles per hour as you put your car through its paces. After each test, check the scoreboard to see how your vehicle performed!
