Updated: Test Track presented by General Motors Building Phase Begins.
There is a point in an attraction refurbishment or retheme where it is out with the old and in with the new, and by what we are seeing here at Epcot’s World Discovery, we have hit the “in with the new” phase of construction. Test Track has been closed since June 16th, 2024, and has seen the outside giant blue canopy and signage be completely removed. Along with the entranceway being demolished, and now we are seeing a new entranceway being built back up.
A new ride marquee is ready to be installed, exactly where the old marquee stood for years. Furthermore, we have seen construction enter the building phase on the outside, a new metal structure, which will act as the entrance of the ride has reached two stories in the air and starting to feature the new rounded front entrance we see in the concept art.
Updated 1/7/2025 – New Images from Outside Construction
The only part of the construction we can report on is the outside facade. We are limited in how much we can see. So there is no way for us to tell how far along construction is going inside the attraction. But, we cannot wait to see the new queue and ride. Disney Imagineering has done one post recently talking about Test Track V3.0, and you can watch it below.
Test Track is not the only construction we are paying attention to. A new Spaceship Earth Lounge is coming in 2025, along with the opening of Test Track. Recently Disney announced that the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros will close on january 6th, 2024 for a 6-week refurbishment.
