Walls Down! Test Track Reopening Sooner Rather Than Later. Walt Disney World’s fastest ride, Test Track, has been closed for almost one full year. The attraction closed on June 17th, 2024, to be completely rethemed and refurbished. There has been no official word on when the ride will reopen in World Discovery, but all signs are pointing to an announcement coming any day now. The big news is the Walls are Down at Test Track.
Why do we say this? Let’s take a look at the outside. The only part of the construction we can report on is the outside facade. We are limited in how much we can see. So there is no way for us to tell how far along construction is inside the attraction, the ride is testing, so obviously it is almost completed. The Test Track Marquee was just installed, and Disney Horticultural has planted new gardens. New signage for the store has been installed. The ride is testing nonstop, and more importantly, the stanchions and queue have been set up.
But, the biggest clue to the ride reopening sooner than we recently speculated on is seeing that the movable walls are now in place. Seeing the movable planter walls means the wooden walls surrounding Test Track are now gone. From our experience, this means the main phase of outside construction is complete, and Cast Members should be invited to test the new retheme shortly.

Disney has revealed a new name for the exit gift shop at Test Track in Epcot. The store previously known as Test Track SIMporium has been changed to Test Track Gear Shop. After your wild ride, slow down and rubberneck tons of Test Track merchandise: toy cars, pit crew caps, pins, and more.
Test Track presented by General Motors: Get ready to feel the thrill of the open road, the wind in your hair, and nothing but adventure ahead! Test Track presented by General Motors is making its return lap in late summer 2025. Walt Disney Imagineering has been working with General Motors on an all-new storyline – you’ll want to be all buckled in for an adventure. You might even see cars returning to the track (for testing…at Test Track…nice) with their new look early in the year!
Test Track Presented by Chevrolet is being reimagined and is currently closed. The attraction will reopen in 2025. Please check back later for updates.
