Grand Floridian Lobby Construction Walls Go Up One Day After Announcement of New Lounge. Disney has moved fast to set up construction walls in the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa lobby here at Walt Disney World. One day after announcing a new lobby bar and upgrades are coming, construction has officially started.
A new lobby bar inspired by the birdcage will take center stage, along with upgrades that keep the memory of the past. For now, guests can enjoy the Grand Cottage while the Easter season is ongoing, because we are already starting to see walls go up. Just minutes away from Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has delighted guests with its Victorian charm and timeless atmosphere since 1988. A celebration of the golden age of travel and Florida’s lavish seaside hotels, the resort is known for its unique theming and Disney hospitality – two qualities we continue to honor during the renovation of the Grand Floridian lobby.
The lobby’s renovation marks the culmination of the resort’s multi-year refurbishment, which has included enhanced guest rooms, refreshed dining experiences, including the Michelin star-awarded Victoria & Albert’s, Cítricos, Narcoossee’s, and 1900 Park Fare, and more.
Furthermore, the 2025 Holiday Gingerbread House will not be returning for the 2025 season. Due to ongoing lobby construction, the sweet-smelling gingerbread store and display will be taking a year off. You can still find other Holiday displays available around Walt Disney World Resorts.

But that’s not all! The whole lobby, from the grand staircase to the front desk, is getting a fresh, airy makeover. Picture botanical touches and inviting colors creating a garden-like feel. The Imagineers are being super careful to keep the Grand Floridian’s heart and story alive while adding a vibrant new chapter for everyone to enjoy.
Just check out the sneak peek – stunning new carpets with Victorian borders and delicate floral designs inspired by old-fashioned botanical drawings. The furniture? Think rich finishes, brass accents, and super comfy fabrics, with a few fun little nods to Florida’s beauty and Victorian style. It’s the same grand feel, just even more inviting!
