Marvel Studios revealed the Avengers: Doomsday baseball scene during Game 1 of the 2026 World Series on Friday, October 23, debuting a one-minute first look on FOX as the Tampa Bay Rays faced the Milwaukee Brewers in Milwaukee. The footage puts the Fantastic Four on the field at Ebbets Field on their home world of Earth-828, drops real MLB stars in alongside the Avengers, and ends on Doctor Doom. Avengers: Doomsday opens in theaters everywhere December 18, and we are keeping our Avengers: Doomsday popcorn bucket coverage updated as U.S. theaters get closer to announcing their lineups.
The look opens on Ebbets Field with “Earth: 828” on screen and a Dodgers “World Champs” banner hanging on the stadium. Ebbets Field came down in 1960 in our world, but on the Fantastic Four’s Earth, the Brooklyn Dodgers’ old ballpark is still packed. A Fantastic Four member Dr Reed Richards in a blue 4 uniform and a Brooklyn cap takes the mound, The Thing shows up in a Brooklyn cap of his own, and fans in the stands wave a sign that reads “Four Heroes, One Historic Field.”
Then the real players show up. Bryce Harper of the Phillies, Freddie Freeman of the Dodgers, Randy Arozarena of the Mariners, Rays star Junior Caminero and Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski all watch from the dugout rail in their own uniforms. Misiorowski is the Brewers’ Game 1 starter, so he pitched in the same game that aired his Marvel cameo.
The Avengers get their moments too. Ant-Man (who has the best line in the preview) with Steve Rogers alongsidr Sam Wilson in his Captain America suit, Thor calls down lightning, before the footage cuts to Doctor Doom in his mask and hood.
Our take: the best moment is an Ant-Man joke. He checks in with “Right, Cap?” then catches himself with “I mean, Steve. Right, Steve?” It lands because Sam Wilson carries the Captain America name now, and Steve Rogers is back for this movie, so even Ant-Man is not sure who gets called Cap anymore.
Collectors should look closely at that end card. Its stained glass look lines up with the stained glass style Doctor Doom helmet popcorn bucket that has been rumored for months, though no U.S. theater chain has confirmed it. Doom has also landed on eight Avengers: Doomsday collector cans from happy coffee, along with seven other characters from the movie.
Avengers: Doomsday opens in theaters everywhere on December 18, 2026.
