The Cat in the Hat popcorn bucket, shaped like the Cat’s red-and-white striped hat, is on sale online at Swan Drive-In for $39.95 and ships now, two weeks before The Cat in the Hat opens in theaters on November 6. Swan has six items in all, including a Thing 1 hooded blanket, a set of 3 topper cups, and a Thing 3 plush. AMC and Regal also have a Cat’s Hat bucket in their Cat in the Hat lineups, but neither has posted a price.
What Swan is selling:
- Cat in the Hat Popcorn Bucket, the Cat’s striped hat: $39.95
- Set of 3 Topper Cups with Thing 1, the Cat and Thing 3 on top: $42.95
- Hooded Blanket, Thing 1 with fuzzy blue hair on the hood: $29.95
- Round Tin with Thing 1 on the front: $19.95
- Kid Size Grippr shaped like Thing 3: $19.95
- Shoulder Pal Plush of Thing 3: $19.95
The hat bucket: It is the Cat’s tall red and white top hat, with The Cat in the Hat logo on the front. Flip it over and the popcorn goes in through the brim. The blanket: It is a 38 by 38 inch red fleece blanket with a Thing 1 patch and a hood covered in fuzzy blue hair, so your kid can be Thing 1 on the couch.
Ordering opened October 21 at 11 p.m. ET, and shipping has already started. Swan fills orders in the order they come in and says all of them will be processed on or before November 2, in time for the movie. Your item is reserved as soon as you order. Swan says everything is officially licensed.
Swan’s $39.95 is the first price we have seen for the Cat’s Hat. It is also the first price for the Thing 1 blanket, which Cinemark has coming but has not priced, and for the Thing 3 plush, which Regal sells as a Shoulder Buddy. The Fishbowl bucket is cheaper at $24.95 on the Cinemark Shop. Swan’s Thing 3 Grippr looks just like Cinemark’s Thing 3 GRIPPR Cup and costs the same $19.95. Regal’s Collectible Combo comes with 1 of 2 toppers, but Swan sells all three as a set.
Swan’s prices are for the item only. At the theaters, buckets come filled with popcorn. Swan also priced the Cat’s Hat just like its Hexed cauldron bucket, at $39.95. The Fishbowl with Fish on top is still our pick, but the Cat’s Hat is the most Cat in the Hat thing in the whole lineup. If you want it without fighting the opening weekend crowds, this is the easy way to get it.
Shop all six on Swan Drive-In’s Cat in the Hat page, and find every new bucket in our Movie Theater Popcorn Buckets guide.
