Loews Hotels & Co has promoted Stephen Cummings to Senior Vice President of Operations for its hotel portfolio at Universal Orlando Resort, putting him in charge of a lineup that’s grown to 11 hotels and roughly 11,000 guest rooms.
Cummings isn’t new to Orlando. He held multiple leadership roles across Loews properties in the city from 2018 to 2023, including leading the opening teams for both Universal Aventura Hotel and Universal Endless Summer Resort’s Dockside Inn and Suites. He most recently served as Complex Managing Director for Loews Arlington Hotel & Convention Center and Live! By Loews in Arlington, Texas, where both properties posted record performance during his tenure. His path into hotel leadership actually started in the kitchen, working as an executive chef and executive sous chef for Renaissance, Ritz-Carlton, and St. Regis before moving into leadership roles at Loews Coronado Bay Resort, Loews Ventana Canyon Resort, and the Don CeSar Hotel.
Loews Hotels & Co Chief Operating Officer Dan Flannery credited Cummings as “a passionate culture carrier and a dynamic hotel operator,” pointing specifically to his work opening Aventura and Endless Summer as milestone moments for the Orlando partnership. Cummings said he’s “honored to return to Orlando and lead such a dedicated team” as he steps into the role.
This is a leadership update worth tracking alongside our other coverage of the Loews Hotels side of Universal Orlando, including the Alchemy by Loews cocktail program launch earlier this year and our original look at Universal Helios Grand Hotel’s reveal back in 2024.
The promotion comes on the heels of a genuinely fast stretch of growth for Loews at Universal Orlando. Three hotels, Universal Stella Nova Resort, Universal Terra Luna Resort, and Universal Helios Grand Hotel, all opened in 2025 alongside Universal Epic Universe, and we’ve covered the ongoing hotel-side programming that’s followed since. Putting an executive with this much specific Orlando history back in charge of operations, right as that expanded portfolio settles into its first full year, reads like a deliberate move rather than a routine reshuffle.
