Scaffolding has come down at the Glob Theater in Monstropolis, and it’s a real milestone now that Walt Disney Imagineering has confirmed most of the land, this building included, opens sometime in 2027.
We broke down everything Disney revealed about this building at D23 2026, including the Glob Theater’s new “Welcome to Monstropolis” show, and followed up with a look at the clock tower and Dark Avenue construction progress just last week.
With the scaffolding gone, the clock tower’s brick facade is fully visible for the first time, along with the building’s roofline and general shape. A few raw concrete panel sections are still exposed along the sides, so exterior finishing work clearly isn’t finished everywhere, but the tower itself looks essentially complete. This building previously housed MuppetVision 3D, and it’s set to hold the Glob Theater’s new stage show once the land opens.
Disney confirmed at D23 that the Glob Theater, along with Harryhausen’s, the Monsters University Alumni Club, Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza, and Scareporium, are all part of the first wave opening in 2027 for H.U.M.A.N. Day, while the suspended door coaster continues construction separately with no completion date attached. Seeing scaffolding come off a building this central to that opening wave, this early, is a good visual sign that timeline is actually holding.
