Disney has confirmed that Rapunzel and Stitch will lead a new lineup of character encounters coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The experience, titled “Off the Page!”, is part of a major transformation of the park’s former Animation Courtyard. Scheduled to open in late summer 2026, this area invites guests to step inside the creative departments of Walt Disney Animation Studios.
Disney has shared new details about the character lineup for “Off the Page!”, a fresh experience coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This addition is part of a larger transformation of the Animation Courtyard area. Guests will soon be able to meet Rapunzel and Stitch in spaces designed to look like real animation departments.
The experience is a collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and Walt Disney Animation Studios. It aims to show the work that goes into every frame of a film. In the Layout department, Rapunzel will wait for fans in a setting inspired by the classic multiplane camera. This setup uses layers of backgrounds and painted cells to create a sense of depth. In the Effects department, Stitch will highlight the action and visual magic that brings animated stories to life.
These new encounters join other recently announced additions for the park. We previously reported on the new Draw with Olaf activity and the broader animation experience coming in 2026. This includes a revamped Animation Academy where guests can learn to draw the famous snowman.
Character Locations in “Off the Page!”
The walk-through space is divided into several areas, each focusing on a different part of the movie-making process:
- Story: Meet Mulan in front of a giant storyboard panel.
- Layout: Find Rapunzel among layered animation cells.
- Hand-Drawn Animation: See Chip n’ Dale in a tribute to pencil-and-paper art.
- CG Animation: Visit Donald and Daisy to learn about computer graphics.
- Lighting: Catch Goofy in a space dedicated to light and shadow.
- Effects: Spot Stitch in the department focused on the movie “magic.”
“It’s so cool because you’re waiting in line to have fun with the characters… and you’re getting to see a bit of history of the studio as well,” Abraham said. “It could very well inspire people to move our studio into the future when they [join Walt Disney Animation Studios] and carry on this legacy that has meant so much to so many people.”
The “Off the Page!” area is expected to open in late summer 2026. It will be located inside the reimagined Magic of Disney Animation building, which will feature the iconic Sorcerer Mickey hat on its exterior.
