Tickets are now on sale for LAIKA’s Wildwood, the studio’s sixth stop-motion feature, and the final trailer dropped alongside the announcement ahead of the film’s October 23 theatrical release.

We recently covered the Wildwood popcorn buckets landing at Swan Drive-In ahead of the film’s release, and now the movie itself has a real release date on the calendar with tickets to match. Wildwood is playing exclusively in theaters starting October 23, distributed domestically by Fathom Entertainment, with select locations offering 4DX, DBOX, and Dolby Cinema presentations. Tickets are available now at participating box offices and online at WildwoodMovie.com.

Travis Knight, who directed Kubo and the Two Strings and produced Masters of the Universe, directs and produces Wildwood from a script by Chris Butler. The film is based on the novel by Colin Meloy and Carson Ellis, and follows Prue McKeel, voiced by Peyton Elizabeth Lee, on a rescue mission into an enchanted forest after her baby brother is taken by a murder of crows. Jacob Tremblay voices her classmate Curtis Mehlberg, and the cast also includes Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Angela Bassett, Awkwafina, Jake Johnson, Charlie Day, Amandla Stenberg, Jemaine Clement, Maya Erskine, Tantoo Cardinal, Tom Waits, and Richard E. Grant.

Wildwood will also open the 40th AFI FEST as its Opening Night selection on October 21, two days ahead of its wide theatrical release.

We cannot wait for this one. Coraline was the movie that made us buy tickets to a 3D showing, the first and only time either of us has done that for a film, and it wasn’t the format that hooked us. It was the story underneath it that turned us into lifelong LAIKA fans, and every trailer for Wildwood so far looks like it is aiming for that same kind of heart. If the studio pulls it off again, October 23 is going to be worth clearing an evening for.
