Cinemark’s New Batmobile Popcorn Bucket Reportedly Pulled From Sale

Cinemark’s new LED Batmobile popcorn bucket, which sold for $59.95 at select theaters, appears to have been pulled from sale everywhere, and multiple unconfirmed reports point to an internal recall.

We reached out to Cinemark’s social media and press contacts for comment and had not heard back as of publication. We were unable to find any recall notice from the Consumer Product Safety Commission or any other regulator, so this is not an official recall right now. Sources at multiple Cinemark locations have told us the bucket was removed from sale in theaters, and posts on Reddit and other collector forums describe the same thing happening at their local locations. The reason circulating online is that both the black antenna piece and the rear tail fins on the Batmobile can come loose, and those small pieces are being described as choking hazards for young kids.

We checked Cinemark’s own online shop directly, and the Batmobile bucket is not listed anywhere, nor had it been. It was only available in theaters. Cinemark has been part of a real recall before. Back in July, the CPSC recalled a Golden Link-manufactured Captain America popcorn bucket and a pair of Fantastic Four cups sold at AMC and several other chains over a button battery hazard. We have no confirmation the Batmobile bucket shares a manufacturer or a similar defect, and until Cinemark or a regulator says something official, this stays an unconfirmed report rather than a confirmed recall.

If you already bought one, it is worth keeping it away from small children until there is more clarity, especially if the antenna or the tail fins turn out to be loose on your unit. We will update this piece the moment Cinemark responds or an official recall notice shows up.

One quieter effect of all this, if it does turn into a real recall, is that the Batmobile bucket would instantly become one of the pricier pieces on the secondary market given its short sale window and higher $59.95 price point. That is a side effect worth knowing about, not a reason to hold onto anything that might not be safe to have around kids.
