Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have built a one-of-a-kind dishwasher-themed popcorn bucket for Evil Dead Burn, the latest entry in the franchise hitting theaters July 10. The promotional piece, first revealed by Dread Central, is exactly what it sounds like: a miniature dishwasher, complete with an exposed knife rack, that opens up to reveal popcorn inside.
Our Take: This one is amazing, cool, and so impractical that it works. Horror fans would have loved to get their hands on this at theaters, but it is easy to understand why Warner Bros. is keeping it off the shelves. If we could order one right now, we would. Our only gripe is that we are seeing more and more of this trend lately: studios building incredible promotional or one-off popcorn buckets purely for hype, without ever following through and giving fans a way to actually buy them. Looking at you, Scary Movie 6 and Jackass.
The bucket traces directly back to the film’s trailer, where one of the most talked-about moments shows a character slammed onto an open dishwasher rack bristling with upward-facing knives, only for a Deadite to crawl on top of them right before the cut to black. It is one of the trailer’s nastiest gut-punch moments, and horror fans wasted no time asking for a popcorn bucket built around it. According to Dread Central’s report, Warner Bros. asked fans on social media what they wanted to see, and the dishwasher concept was the overwhelming answer.
Unfortunately, this one will not be sitting behind the concession counter. The dishwasher bucket was built strictly as a promotional display piece and will not be sold to the general public. It exists to mark the occasion and lean into the joke fans were already making online, not to be added to AMC or Regal’s lineup ahead of the film’s release.
