The Odyssey IMAX Popcorn Bucket Coming Soon to AMC and Regal Cinemas

The Odyssey IMAX Film Camera Popcorn Bucket is officially coming to AMC Theatres and Regal Cinemas, with Regal confirming a July 17, 2026 on-sale date for the $49.99 collectible tied to Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. Both chains list the bucket as “Coming Soon” with sign-up forms live now for notification when it goes on sale.

This is the third wave of demand for the bucket. It sold out in about an hour after its initial release earlier this month, went back on sale, and sold out again almost instantly. For background on the bucket itself, see our original coverage of the IMAX Film Camera Popcorn Bucket and our full rundown of Odyssey theater merchandise.

What the IMAX Film Camera Popcorn Bucket Looks Like

The bucket is modeled after the IMAX 15/65mm camera, the large-format technology Nolan has called the gold standard for filmmaking, and it holds 100 oz of popcorn. It measures 14″ x 6.25″ x 5.3″ and weighs about 1.26 lbs, made from acrylic, PP, and ABS plastic. The standout feature is a light-up viewfinder powered by an included LED and LR1130 battery, which reveals imagery from The Odyssey when lit. The design uses a 1.43:1 expanded aspect ratio, a nod to IMAX’s signature screen format. It’s handwash only, so this is a display and collector piece more than a daily-use bucket.

Availability at AMC and Regal Cinemas

Both retailers are running this as a pre-order-only release through their online shops, with limited in-theater quantities at select locations. Regal has set a specific go-live date of July 17, 2026. AMC has not published an exact date but has its notify list open now. Given how fast the previous two releases disappeared, signing up for both notify lists today is the only way to have a real shot.

Pricing and Purchase Limits

The bucket is priced at $49.99 at both AMC and Regal. Regal is capping purchases at three units per customer. AMC has not posted a stated limit as of this writing, but expects that to be enforced or added once the listing goes live, since limits have been standard for buckets at this demand level.

Why This Bucket Keeps Selling Out

Nolan’s name and the IMAX camera tie-in have made this one of the most chased theater collectibles of the year, and two back-to-back instant sellouts have only fueled the urgency. If you’ve missed it twice already, treat the AMC and Regal notify lists as non-negotiable. Set an alert, keep your payment info ready, and expect it to move fast the moment either chain flips the listing live.

This is exactly why the bucket has sold out twice and is now expanding to AMC and Regal. The story going around is that Nolan rejected every popcorn bucket design shown to him until they brought him the camera, and that approval is reportedly what got the companion Trojan Horse bucket the green light too. We can’t confirm how much truth is in that, but it’s a good story either way. We ordered ours the first round straight from IMAX’s official site and got lucky to land one. This is what a movie popcorn bucket should be. Not just a character’s head stuck on a container, but something usable that actually fits the film it’s tied to. That’s the difference between a bucket people buy because it’s cute and one people fight over because it’s genuinely well designed.
