D23’s Black Flame Ball is returning to Salem, Massachusetts on September 25, 2026, timed to the city’s Quadricentennial celebration, with special guest Doug Jones, who played Billy Butcherson in Hocus Pocus and Hocus Pocus 2, joining the Halloween party alongside an appearance by the Sanderson Sisters.
Tickets go on sale Wednesday, June 24 at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET. Gold Members pay $259 plus a $3 processing fee, while General Members pay $299 plus the same fee. With Hocus Pocus 3 already confirmed to be in early development at Disney Live Action with Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy all attached to return, this Black Flame Ball lands at a moment when the franchise’s fan base is especially energized. The Black Flame Ball is one of several D23 events on the calendar for the rest of 2026, alongside everything happening at D23 2026, Disney’s official fan club programming for the year.

Before the evening party begins, every ticket includes a guided walking tour of Salem with Black Cat Tours, taking attendees through the city’s historic landmarks as well as the actual filming locations from Hocus Pocus, following in the footsteps of Max, Dani, Allison, and Thackery Binx.
As the sun sets, the Black Flame Ball begins with Doug Jones in attendance, styled after the colorful Halloween party scene from the original 1993 film. Guests are encouraged to arrive in costume, whether channeling a Sanderson sister, Dad-cula, or any other Halloween icon of their choosing. The night includes a live band playing Halloween hits, food, and an open bar for guests 21 and over with valid government-issued photo identification.
Every ticket includes a limited-release Black Flame Ball pin, an event credential and swag bag, the Black Cat Tours walking tour, and full entry into the evening event.
For anyone in the Salem area who isn’t attending the ball itself, D23 and Creative Collective are hosting a free outdoor screening of the original 1993 Hocus Pocus on the steps of Old Town Hall the night before, on Thursday, September 24. For tickets and info check out the official D23 site.
Our Take: Pairing this event with Salem’s 400th anniversary is a smart piece of timing, and bringing in Doug Jones specifically speaks to how much affection fans have for Billy Butcherson as a character, even though he is not one of the three leads. The free outdoor screening the night before is a nice touch that opens the celebration up to people who couldn’t get tickets to the ball itself.
