Disney Greenlights New Phineas and Ferb Time Travel Movie

Disney Greenlights New ‘Phineas and Ferb’ Time-Travel Movie. Disney is making another Phineas and Ferb movie. The new project, which starts production this year, comes from original creators Dan Povenmire and Swampy Marsh. It will air on both Disney+ and Disney Channel.

The story focuses on a time-travel experiment by Dr. Doofenshmirtz that goes wrong. In this alternate timeline, Phineas’s mom never meets Ferb’s dad. Because the two never become brothers, the “best summer ever” never happens, and the boys have to find a way to fix the past before their family disappears for good.

Original Cast and Crew Return

Fans of the show will recognize the voices in this new film. The full original cast is back, including:

  • Vincent Martella as Phineas
  • David Errigo Jr. as Ferb
  • Ashley Tisdale as Candace
  • Caroline Rhea as Linda
  • Dee Bradley Baker as Perry the Platypus
  • Dan Povenmire as Dr. Doofenshmirtz

The movie is being produced by Disney Television Animation. Bob Bowen is directing, while long-time writers Kate Kondell and Jeff Howard are handling the script.

This announcement comes right before a busy weekend for the franchise.

On Friday, Jan. 16, Disney+ will release “Agent P Under C.” This is a new series of shorts featuring Perry the Platypus going undercover to stop a rival spy group called A.N.A.T.H.E.M.A. On Saturday, Jan. 17, new episodes of the main series will drop on Disney+. These episodes include guest stars like Meghan Trainor and Anna Faris, plus a special musical episode called “VENDPOCALYPSE.”

Phineas and Ferb has been a massive hit for Disney since it started in 2008. So far, people have watched over 12 billion hours of the show across cable and streaming. The most recent season, which came out last summer, regularly showed up in Nielsen’s Top 10 streaming lists.

Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, says the new movie is a chance to see what happens to these characters when their world gets turned upside down. Povenmire and Marsh added that they wanted to tell a story about family and “unconditional love,” but keep it funny and weird like the original show.

All previous seasons and the first two movies are currently streaming on Disney+.
