Disney and OfficialBlueyTV Instagram posted today: “Hooray! The all-new feature length Bluey movie is coming only to cinemas on August 6, 2027!”
The beloved Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning animated series, which has become a global phenomenon and 2024’s No. 1 series on streaming, is heading to the big screen. The film, which will be a Ludo Studio production in collaboration with BBC Studios, will be released in cinemas under the Disney banner before later streaming on Disney+ and airing on ABC in Australia.
The movie will be written and directed by “Bluey” creator Joe Brumm. In a statement, Brumm expressed his excitement, saying, “I really enjoyed the experience of working with a longer format on The Sign in Series 3, so going even further with a feature film feels like a natural extension of that. I’ve always thought ‘Bluey’ deserved a theatrical movie. I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together.”

The Walt Disney Company: “Today, BBC Studios and Walt Disney Studios, in partnership with Ludo Studio, announced that the feature-length Bluey movie will be released in cinemas August 6, 2027.
Written and directed by Bluey creator Joe Brumm and produced by Ludo Studio in collaboration with BBC Studios, the CG-animated feature is produced by Amber Naismith (“Happy Feet,” “The LEGO® Movie”) and co-directed by Richard Jeffery (Bluey, Series 1–3). Joe Brumm is the executive producer, alongside Justine Flynn for BBC Studios, with Charlie Aspinwall and Daley Pearson from Ludo Studio. For Disney, the film will be overseen by David Greenbaum, president of Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios, and his team.
The film features returning voice talent Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack as Mum (Chilli) and Dad (Bandit). The movie marks the big-screen debut of the beloved blue heeler and her family, bringing the Emmy® and BAFTA Award-winning series to life like never before.
BBC Studios is financing and licensing the picture with theatrical distribution through Walt Disney Studios. The film is being supported by the Australian government through the Producer Offset and Screen Australia, and support from the Queensland Government through Screen Queensland’s Post, Digital and Visual Effects Incentive.”
In the meantime, here at Walt Disney World, we are waiting for word on when Bluey and Bingo are coming. Announced at the end of 2024, Disney Experiences and Official Bluey had posted saying Bluey would be coming to Disney World sometime in 2025.
