Celebrate 55 Years of the Walt Disney Archives at Walt Disney World June 22: D23 Spotlight Series Tickets Still Available! During the D23 Spotlight Series event celebrating the 55th anniversary of the Walt Disney Archives in California, a piece of Muppet history was publicly unveiled for the first time: Jim Henson’s Kermit the Frog puppet/Muppet. D23 Gold Members and a guest can see the Walt Disney World version of the Walt Disney Archives Spotlight Series coming to AMC 24 at Disney Springs on June 22nd, 2025, and tickets are still for sale.
D23 posted: “At our recent D23 Spotlight Series event celebrating 55 years of @WaltDisneyArchives, we unveiled an un-frog-ettable new addition to the collection: Kermit the Frog, used by Disney Legend Jim Henson.”
Since 1970, the Walt Disney Archives has been collecting and preserving the history and magic of The Walt Disney Company. To celebrate this very special department’s 55th anniversary, D23 Gold Members are invited to an exclusive Archives presentation—including Archives director Becky Cline—at Walt Disney World Resort, diving into the department’s history, and how the group collaborates with partners across the company to safeguard and share the thousands of treasures in its historical collection.
“D23 Spotlight Series: Walt Disney Archives 55th Anniversary Celebration” will include:
- Access to a special presentation and panel discussion at AMC Disney Springs 24, celebrating the 55th anniversary of the Walt Disney Archives
- A D23 event-exclusive commemorative postcard set highlighting select “crown jewels” from the Archives collection

These in-person events will take fans deeper into unique topics such as a celebration of the Walt Disney Archives’ 55th anniversary and a look into Indiana Jones attractions at Disney Parks, both past, present, and future, along with more topics throughout the year!
