Disney • Pixar “Gatto” Just Announced! Coming in 2027. They just announced it at Annecy, and everyone went wild! Venice is the backdrop, and from the image, it looks amazing. Pixar is trying something new with the animation. The film appears to be rich in colors from Venetian settings, and blends 2D hand-painted textures with cutting-edge CG animation.

The main character is Nero, a black cat who’s been cruising around Venice for years. But even though he’s a pro at city life, he’s starting to wonder if he’s been living the right way. He’s kind of into music (his tail gives it away!) but hates water, and he owes a favor to a local cat mob boss. Things get even crazier when Maya, a street artist, basically adopts him against his will. So now you’ve got this tough street cat and a free-spirited artist teaming up. A total odd couple, but maybe this friendship is exactly what Nero needs to figure out his purpose. But watch out, because Venice has a “mysterious and dark side” that could throw a wrench in their plans.
