‘Something Wicked This Way Comes’ – Sunset Showcase Getting the Villains Makeover. Signage and visuals were added to the facade of the show building. Yesterday and today, Disney crews were busy painting a bright hot pink wall, which by the end of the day looked like an ombre of purples and pinks. We should have a good look at the marquee at any time. The new show, Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After, opens May 27th, along with the new Disney Live Entertainment show ‘The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure‘, which also just got a new facelift.

Sunset Showcase at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a dynamic entertainment venue on Sunset Boulevard. It is located next to Rock’ n’ Roller Coaster. The building first opened on December 4, 2015, with the high-energy Club Disney, where a DJ kept the dance floor buzzing. Later, on March 31, 2019, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy roared onto the scene, bringing Lightning McQueen himself live on stage with a cool racing simulator.

But get ready for something new! Lightning McQueen’s show wrapped up on October 8th, 2024. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is transforming Sunset Showcase for the highly anticipated “Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After” show, premiering May 27, 2025. A sneak peek reveals a stage with video frame backdrops for your favorite villains. The stage is framed by a series of video screens, each encased in ornate picture frames. These screens will serve as portals, bringing iconic Disney Villains to life in a dynamic and immersive way. The centerpiece of the stage is an oval screen, clearly designed to be the Magic Mirror.

This show, debuting on May 27, 2025, part of Cool Kids Summer at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, promises to be a villain-centric spectacle unlike anything seen before, featuring a staggering number of iconic and surprisingly deep-cut characters. Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After show will premiere in the Sunset Showcase Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Details:

  • The poster showcases a jaw-dropping 53 unique villains, or 59 if you count dynamic duos like Pain and Panic separately. There are even two Kokamoras from “Moana”!
  • Eagle-eyed fans have spotted rare appearances from characters like Long John Silver (“Treasure Planet”) and Commander Lyle Tiberius Rourke (“Atlantis: The Lost Empire”), signaling a deep dive into Disney’s animated history.

The show’s premise revolves around the Magic Mirror summoning guests to hear the villains’ cases, arguing they’ve been “unfairly” treated over the years. The show will be headlined by three main Villains, Cruella de Vil with Captain Hook, and Maleficent.

  • Live Production Numbers: Expect show-stopping performances from headliners like Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent, who will dramatically “break through the glass” to take the stage.
  • A Wicked Finale: Ultimately, the audience will play a role in deciding which villain has been the most unfairly maligned.
