Reports of Teens Breaking Tempered Glass in Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Queue Causing Evacuation. Last night, the Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind queue was evacuated, and the ride was closed for a few hours because of a large broken tempered glass window. The glass in question has been in place since the ride opened in May of 2022. The damage occurred at the top of the ramp leading up from the central Galaxarium queue.
Redditors who were in the queue during the evacuation were able to get images of the shattered glass. Some also reported that a group of teens was asked to stop punching the glass. The same group of teens was seen climbing on things and messing around.
Images were posted by Livetolearn5747 on the Walt Disney World Reddit Forums, who posted, “The entire guardian queue fast pass and standby by was evacuated tonight because the tempered glass in the queue area broke. Thankfully, everyone was physically okay! Emotionally, maybe a bit more shaky lol.” Others said they were past this section of the queue and still got to ride the coaster, but within 10 minutes, the whole building was evacuated of guests.
The tempered glass did not produce large shards, it acted exactly as it was designed, which is to shatter into a million pieces while maintaining its structure. So no one was injured. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in World Discovery at Epcot reopened this morning with no issues. We are heading over to see what repair the Disney Cast Members have done. Knowing Disney, they have backups and something in place just in case this ever happened.
