Frontierland Changes Spark Criticism of Disney Imagineer. Debating changes happening at The Most Magical Place on Earth, Walt Disney World, has always been a fan-favorite pastime. We can all speak our piece about the value of nostalgia, our favorite ride or attraction, and when Disney decides to make a major change to one of our beloved lands, the discussion can become heated. That is the passion of Disney guests and fans across the world.
The issue is when people go on the attack against one Disney Imagineer and make those attacks personal. This is the case this morning over on Jacklyn Krol’s, Walt Disney Imagineer, Twitter account, and her post expressing her joy for being a part of the Cars Land attraction reveal during The Future of World-Building at Disney panel at SXSW.
Jacklyn was celebrated on the Disney Parks Blog, showcasing her work alongside Noodle, the first canine Imagineer at Walt Disney World, and her service dog. Noodle’s ability to monitor Jacklyn’s cardiac and respiratory systems is vital. Despite her clear qualifications and the groundbreaking nature of her role, some have chosen to dismiss her accomplishments and resort to baseless attacks, labeling her a “DEI hire” simply because she is a woman in Walt Disney Imagineering.
While some Disney fans decided to bring a healthy debate to the topic, a Vocal Minority went on the attack as “Real” Disney fans who know better since they are CEO’s and have business degrees received from Mom’s Basement University of Trolls. There is no place in our Disney Community for personal attacks like this. This goes for both sides of the political divide.
“I just read that you hate white, male, straight, Christians. Imagine my surprise. Basically, you hate Walt himself. This is the Marxist takeover of Disney LADIES & GENTLEMAN. These are the people destroying Disney’s vision.”
“You will go down in history as one of the destroyers of Disney parks. It appears you also have TDS or as I like to truthfully call it, mental illness.”
Someone even associated her as a New Villain “GUYS! WE FOUND A BIGGER VILLAIN THAN WHOEVER OK’D THE REMOVAL OF THE GREAT MOVIE RIDE!!!!”
If @DisneyParks cares anything about the future success of their parks they should terminate your employment immediately
It seems that the retheme of Rivers of America has now become the new Splash Mountain, with fans expressing that this is a “Woke” judgment and a “DEI” move on Disney’s part to remove America’s history. Disney is now officially doing the work of the left wing, just like the re-theme of Splash Mountain into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. When all it truly is a way for a major corporation, The Walt Disney Company, to maximize profit from the Disney Parks.
Kids can’t even read The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and especially Huckleberry Finn, anymore. With the books being banned from libraries across the country. This isn’t just a Mom’s for Liberty thing either; both books have had controversy since they were released in the late 1800s. So why would they care about a land that they know nothing about?
This has nothing to do with politics and all to do with bringing a new generation of fans to Walt Disney World and making a few bucks (or a lot of bucks) along the way. Just think of it this way: When was the last time you bought a Tom Sawyer piece of merchandise? Did you buy the newest model of the Liberty Belle? Disney Pixar Cars is a hot IP and will bring new fans into the park, selling more tickets and merchandise. It’s as simple as that!
I am not defending Disney, but I fully believe in defending people just doing their Cast Member jobs. She is doing her job. She is NOT the person who makes the final decisions on projects. It would be like yelling at the guy who works at Publix restocking Eggs because the prices are to damn high. Like the guy sets the prices and is making them higher just to piss you off. Sickening Display of so-called Disney Adults.
