New Permits for Mystery Project at Hotel du Canada in Epcot Pavilion. We recently broke down the construction we have been watching at the Canada Pavilion in Epcot going on at Hotel du Canada. You can read our post “Mystery Construction Continues At Epcot’s Castle-like Hotel du Canada” and see us go deeper into what may or may not be going on.
Today, we got word that Disney has filed sign installation permits with Orange County, FL. The Notice of Commencement for 1920 Avenue of the Stars, Bay Lake FL. The signage will be installed by Design Communications Ltd. While we do not know what the sign will be, when it does go up we may finally be able to figure out what is going into the Castle space that has not been used since the late 90s or early 2000s.
I do even remember the name of the shop that used to occupy that space. If you remember or have an image, please drop us a line! This would be considered the first floor of the castle as Le Cellier Steakhouse occupies the basement. For years there has been nothing on this level of the Canada pavilion other than great views.
We have covered the construction at Hotel du Canada since June 13th, 2023. Originally the construction was on the facade of the building and the copper-looking roof. At the time, Le Cellier Steakhouse and the whole building were covered in tarps and scaffolding. When the scaffolding came down we thought construction was complete in February of 2024. The Castle looked refurbished and the outside looked brand new.
One month later in March of 2024, the Castle once again had walls keeping guests from walking around the upper portions of the Canada Pavilion. This construction continues today, January 2025. But what is going on? In the images below you can see that work is being done on the front of the Castle. The area looks to be either a new storefront, but we have heard others discuss ideas like a new DVC or a regular Lounge. Could Le Cellier be expanded?
