Disney Treasure Rescue Mission to Save Sinking Boat Passengers On Voyage to Home Port. Disney’s newest ship, the ‘Disney Treasure’ has not even boarded its first paying guests, yet it had some unexpected guests board the ship 230 miles off the Bermuda Coast before even making the first docking at the ship’s home port of Port Canaveral, Florida.
On Sunday, a Disney Cruise Line ship came to the rescue of four individuals stranded on a sinking catamaran in Bermuda. The 50-foot vessel, named the Serenity, was approximately 230 miles away from the Bermuda coast when a gasket failure in the escape hatch led to water ingress. After the passengers sent out a distress call, the Coast Guard issued a broadcast alerting nearby vessels.
“We are pleased that the Disney Treasure was able to provide aid to the boat passengers in peril. Our crew members worked together on the rescue, skillfully demonstrating their training and commitment to safety,” Disney Treasure Captain Marco Nogara said in a statement to ABC News.
The Disney Treasure, which was about 80 miles away, launched one of their small boats and rescued all four passengers. The four individuals were recovered safely, and no medical issues were reported.
Disney Cruise Line has been posting updates of the Voyage across the seas recently. In the newest post, DCL discusses how the new ship’s horn will be playing seven tunes. Quite a difference in tone, considering they just saved four lives.
“This week, as the Disney Treasure journeys across the Atlantic Ocean, the team tested out seven new arrangements of familiar Disney melodies in preparation for its inaugural season this December. Several of the new ship horn sounds were chosen to complement the daring tales that will be found onboard the Disney Treasure, while others capture the ship’s motif of adventure.
Future Disney Cruise Line guests will soon hear the Disney Parks’ classic, “Grim Grinning Ghosts,” a nod to the Haunted Mansion Parlor; “Remember Me” from the Pixar Animation Studios film, “Coco,” honoring the theatrical dining restaurant, Plaza de Coco; and “A Whole New World” from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film, “Aladdin,” a tie to the ship’s Grand Hall. The team even created a special holiday composition for this year’s holiday season. Can you guess what the other new ship horns will be?”
