Villains Land at Magic Kingdom Construction to Start “Very, Very Soon” Plus 13 Villains Announced. D23 Brazil has wrapped up, and it may not have been the headline-grabbing event like D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event back in August of 2024. However, it still made waves in the Disney Universe, specifically with the announcement of the thirteen Villains that will be represented in the new Land coming to Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Plus, we got a promise that construction is due to start very, very soon.
“Happily ever after may feel like just a distant dream!” Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro announced during Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase. Portfolio creative executive at Walt Disney Imagineering Michael Hundgen said this past weekend that “There might not be a happily ever after,” which just makes our hair stand on the edge with palpable excitement about the coming Villains land that is years in the making. Mr. D’amaro added this weekend that construction on Villains Land will be starting “very, very soon.”
For the fifteen villains, we had our guesses when the first images were released by Disney Experiences, which you can see below, we now have a confirmed list of who will be represented. “It just shows some of the fearsome characters that are inspiring this land,” said Hundgen. The thirteen villains are the Queen of Hearts (Alice in Wonderland), Jafar (Aladdin), Evil Queen as herself and Old Hag (Snow White and the Seven Drawfs), Lady Tremaine (Cinderella), Yzma (The Emperor’s New Groove), Cruella De’Vile (101 Dalmations), Captain Hook (Peter Pan), Maleficent & Maleficent Dragon (Sleeping Beauty), Gaston (Beauty and the Beast), Mother Gothel (Tangled), Ursula (The Little Mermaid), Hades (Hercules), and finally, the Chernabog (Fantasia).
“In our story, a mysterious spell has been cast, summoning all these villains from every realm, Hundgen told the crowd at D23 Brazil. “In this land, the heroes— they don’t come to save the day. There might not be a happily ever after. You never know, right?”
