Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue, the Wreck-It Ralph ride coming to Tokyo Disneyland, officially opens April 15, 2027 in Tomorrowland. Disney says it is the first attraction in the world themed to Wreck-It Ralph, and it opens alongside a new shop called Pixel Prism, a new popcorn stand and a Sugar-Lime popcorn flavor you can only get at Tokyo Disneyland.
The ride takes over the building that was home to Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters, which Oriental Land Co. closed in 2024 to make way for it. It is part of a bigger Tomorrowland makeover at Tokyo Disneyland that also includes Space Mountain Earthrise, set for 2027.

King Candy is back to his old tricks. In the ride’s story, he is plotting to take over every video game in the arcade and has turned the candies of Sugar Rush, from gummies and lollipops to bubble gum and ice cream, into Sugar Bugs programmed to eat the whole kingdom. Guests team up with Ralph, Vanellope and their friends to turn the Sugar Bugs back into their “kawaii” forms, which is Japanese for cute.
This one is competitive. Each ride vehicle has scanners, and you earn points based on the types and number of Sugar Bugs you restore. Your results show up on screens in the vehicle at the end of the ride, and for a limited time afterward in the Tokyo Disney Resort App. Ride photos are added to My Photos in the app automatically and are available to buy.
Pixel Prism, Popping Station and Sugar-Lime Popcorn
Pixel Prism opens next to the attraction on April 15, 2027. Disney says the shop is inspired by a digital marketplace, with fiber optic-style details, pixel-patterned floors and a large lit-up pixel structure at the entrance. It will carry plush, candy and toys inspired by the scanners on the ride.
Popcorn fans get a head start. Popping Station, a new popcorn stand overlooking Tomorrowland Plaza, opens March 17, 2027 with Sugar-Lime Popcorn, a sweet-and-tart flavor inspired by the Sugar Bugs. The flavor will also be sold at popcorn wagons across Tokyo Disneyland. It joins a lineup that already includes soy sauce and butter, garlic shrimp and strawberry napoleon. Restaurants around the park will add special menu items for the opening too.
The buildup starts well before April. A Sugar Rush smartphone mini-game launches January 12, 2027, and a special version played in select areas of Tokyo Disneyland will mix park scenery into the game. Ride-themed decorations and photo spots arrive in Tomorrowland on February 18, followed by Sugar Rush projections on Cinderella Castle starting March 18.
King Candy is one of our favorite Disney villains because he always keeps us laughing, so seeing him run the show on his own ride is a treat. Tokyo Disneyland knows how to do popcorn better than anyone, and with Sugar-Lime on the way, we will be watching closely to see if a Sugar Rush popcorn bucket follows.
