The scaffolding is coming down at Monstropolis, and the first building to show off its full monster makeover is Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. When we visited on Monday, October 26, 2026, crews had cleared the front gable and the side wall, the same building that just got its “Try Our Cans” sign. Every window has horns, every ledge has teeth and the gable is covered in scales. Here is a closer look.
Three arched windows sit in the gable, the middle one taller than the other two. Each arch has a pair of small horns. Two rows of cream teeth run across the front, and a wooden water tower sits on the roof behind it.
This side shows it best. Five arched windows run down the red brick wall, and each one looks like a monster face. Horns stick up from the top of every frame, and a row of teeth hangs under every sill. Bronze posts with bolt heads sit between the windows, and more teeth line the top of the wall. The windows are filled with orange panels for now.
With the scaffolding gone from this side, you can see the yellow “Cans” letters right next to the horned windows. The bracing poles are still up, so the painters may not be done.
Pointed spikes run up both sides of the gable like the ridge on a monster’s back. The shingles under them are rounded like scales.
Get close and you can see how much care went into this. No two shingles are quite the same color. They mix teal, gold, plum and brown, and each one has tiny pits so it looks old and worn. The cream stone has the same pitted look. Even the corner columns get a monster touch, with bolt heads running up the sides and a crown of spikes on top.
Disney has not shown close-up concept art of Archie’s yet. The only official look so far is the overhead art of the whole land from D23 in August. So these photos are the best look anyone has had at what this building will be. It matches what Disney promised, a regular old brick town where the buildings have been “monster-fied” with teeth on windows and horns on frames. That is exactly how Monstropolis looks in Monsters, Inc. Everything seems normal until you notice the monster details.
The restaurant is named for Archie the Scare Pig, the six-legged Fear Tech mascot that Monsters University students love to steal. It replaces PizzeRizzo and will serve Frozen Blort among other things. Archie’s opens in 2027. This is the most detail we have seen in Monstropolis so far. You could walk past this building a hundred times and still find something new. If the rest of the land looks like this when the walls come down, it is going to be worth the wait.
Disney is opening Monstropolis in phases. Phase 1 opens sometime in 2027 and includes Archie’s, the Welcome to Monstropolis show at The Glob, Harryhausen’s, the Monsters University Alumni Club and the Scareporium shop. The door coaster does not have an opening date yet. With scaffolding now coming down, Phase 1 looks to be on target.
