Walt Disney Imagineering is testing the brand-new Spider-Man roller coaster at Shanghai Disneyland, and the next step is speed. In a new video, Imagineers say the coaster’s slow-motion warm-up is complete and acceleration testing starts soon. It is the first Spider-Man roller coaster at any Disney park, and it will be the main ride in Shanghai Disneyland’s new Spider-Man land.
It is a roller coaster where you ride along with Spider-Man. Disney’s concept art shows riders racing through a yard full of Stark Industries shipping containers while Spider-Man webs up a giant Spider-Bot. Shanghai Disneyland calls it “a high-speed adventure with Spider-Man.” This will be Shanghai Disneyland’s ninth land and the first Disney land all about Spider-Man. At D23 2026, Disney showed off the land’s Spider-Bots and W.E.B., the Worldwide Engineering Brigade. That is the same team from WEB Slingers at Disney California Adventure.
Disney first announced the coaster at D23 in 2024. In September, Imagineers started push-pull testing, moving the cars along the track at just one centimeter per second. Now the slow runs are done, and the train is about to go fast.
Disney has not named it yet. A sign on one of the track supports reads “W.E.B. L4UNCH//R,” so fans think it could be called W.E.B. Launcher. Disney has not announced an opening date. Acceleration testing is the fun part. Once the train hits full speed, the next video should finally show how fast this thing really goes.
