Sam Jaeger and Ariel Winter will lead Change of Heart, a new six-episode original series premiering in 2027 exclusively on Hallmark+. Rachel Boston, Julie Gonzalo and Kevin Vidal round out the series regulars, and production began in September.
Jaeger plays Charlie Wyatt, a divorce attorney famous for winning no matter the cost and about the least likely romantic hero you could imagine. After a life-altering heart transplant, Charlie finds himself pulled toward a more hopeful way of living, and he starts helping other people find their way back to each other in ways he cannot explain. Winter plays Brit, his younger sister, who becomes his anchor and his partner in matchmaking. Hallmark has not yet said who Boston, Gonzalo and Vidal will play.
The cast brings a mix of familiar faces. Jaeger is known for Parenthood and The Handmaid’s Tale, and Hallmark fans will remember him from October Kiss. Winter spent 11 seasons on Modern Family and voiced the title role in Sofia the First. Boston’s credits include The More the Merrier, Witches of East End and American Dreams, Gonzalo is known for Supergirl and Dallas, and Vidal comes from Workin’ Moms, Culprits and the Canadian premiere cast of Come From Away.
We have talked with Rachel Boston before, when she joined Erin Cahill and Taylor Cole for Christmas at Sea, and she was an absolute delight. She told us about helping recreate a missed prom for a fan on one of Hallmark’s Christmas cruises, the kind of story that shows exactly why fans love her. Check out our Christmas at Sea interview with Rachel, Erin and Taylor.
Change of Heart comes from creator Jonny Umansky, with The Chicken Sisters’ Erin Gibson as showrunner. It is produced by FOX Entertainment Studios, the same studio behind The Way Home, alongside Keshet Studios. “We’re excited to build on our longstanding Hallmark partnership with Change of Heart, following the success of The Way Home,” said Hannah Pillemer, head of scripted at FOX Entertainment Studios. Keshet’s Liz Cohen added that Jaeger and Winter “are perfect for Charlie and Brit.”
The series was first announced in August as part of Hallmark’s 25th anniversary, and it joins a growing lineup of Hallmark+ originals. Hope Valley 1874 was renewed for a second season, and Lacey Chabert talked at Hallmark’s 25th anniversary celebration in New York about getting six episodes with her character in Paris Is Always a Good Idea instead of a single movie.
Our take is that this premise is a smart twist on a Hallmark favorite. Matchmakers are everywhere on Hallmark, but a divorce attorney who suddenly cannot stop bringing couples together is a fresh angle, and six episodes gives Charlie room to change in a way a two-hour movie never could. Pairing Jaeger with Winter as brother and sister is the part we are most curious to see.
