Dollywood Reveals Chapel Popcorn Bucket for Smoky Mountain Christmas 2026

Dollywood has announced a Robert F. Thomas Chapel popcorn bucket for Smoky Mountain Christmas, and it goes on sale online to everyone on November 2. Season Passholders get first access starting today, October 12, as renewals open for the 2027 season.

The bucket is a miniature of the white chapel inside Dollywood, dressed for the holidays with wreaths and red bows on the windows, garland along the porch rails and a gold bell in the steeple. Warm lights run along the roofline and steeple and glow through the windows, and the roof lifts on a hinge to reveal the popcorn inside. Dollywood has not announced a price yet.

The timing gives this one more weight than a typical holiday bucket. Dolly Parton passed away on August 25 at age 80, and this will be the first Smoky Mountain Christmas without her. The chapel was not a random pick either. It is named for Dr. Robert F. Thomas, the doctor who delivered Dolly in a cabin in the Smoky Mountains on January 19, 1946. Her father paid him with a sack of cornmeal, a story Dolly later turned into a song. Few places in the park tie back to the very start of her story like this one.

Dollywood is building its own tributes around the chapel too. In September, park president Eugene Naughton announced a new reflection area near the chapel’s waterfall, with a sculpted guitar, set to open in early March 2027. A new Dream Maker character arrives in Wildwood Grove in 2027, inspired by Dolly’s belief in children’s dreams, and the Dolly Parton Experience is getting a new entrance and a new finale in its “I Will Always Love You” room.

If you want to honor her this season, the bucket is one small way to bring a piece of that story home, but it is not the only one. The chapel still holds Sunday services, at 3 p.m. during Smoky Mountain Christmas. Dolly’s Imagination Library, which mails free books to young children, takes donations through the Dollywood Foundation and is the simplest way to keep her work going. In Sevierville, the new In Dolly’s Footsteps walking tour marks places she and her family spent time, including Red’s Drive-In and the Pines Theater.

Our take is that Dollywood could have turned any building in the park into a popcorn bucket. Choosing the chapel named for the man who brought Dolly into the world, for the first Christmas without her, was the right call. For more collectible buckets, visit our Movie Theater Popcorn Buckets hub.
