The Walt Disney Company has released a behind-the-scenes look at Walt Disney Archives: Uncrated, the D23 2026 exhibit that put more than 200 props, costumes and puppets on display in Anaheim. The video was posted October 1 for American Archives Month. In it, Kelsey Williams, Manager of Exhibitions at the Walt Disney Archives, says the exhibit took 10 months to plan. Disney calls it the largest exhibit the Archives has ever presented at a D23 event.
Uncrated ran August 14 to 16 at the Anaheim Convention Center, and Fantasy Land News previewed it with the D23 2026 show floor lineup in July. The working warehouses of the Archives are closed to the public, so the team built one for fans to walk through. It was split into six areas called Sitcom, Fashion, Disney Channel, The Muppets, Sci-Fi and Magical Relics.
Standouts included the cerulean sweater from The Devil Wears Prada, the piano from the Hannah Montana set and the red Light Cycle from TRON: Ares. Sci-Fi held every jet pack in the collection. Magical Relics displayed every magic wand the Archives owns together for the first time.
The Muppets area had a Walt Disney World tie. It held Miss Piggy’s Statue of Liberty crown from Muppet*Vision 3D, which closed at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2025.
A stage in the center of the exhibit let fans pick which mystery crate was opened next. “No two presentations are the same,” Williams said.
Uncrated lasted three days in one city, so this video is now the best way to see it. The crown is the detail that matters most for Walt Disney World fans. Pieces of closed attractions are being saved, and some are being shown. Disney’s post does not mention any plan to tour Uncrated or bring it back.
