Korean cinema chain Megabox is bringing two classic Digimon Adventure films back to theaters and celebrating with an exclusive set of eight Digiegg-shaped popcorn buckets modeled after the original series’ partner Digimon. Megabox is re-releasing 1999’s Digimon Adventure and 2000’s Digimon Adventure: Our War Game! as a special “Double Edition” theatrical collection. Tied to that rerelease, the chain is offering a Korea-exclusive Digiegg Popcorn Bucket featuring designs based on the eight original partner Digimon: Agumon, Gabumon, Biyomon, Tentomon, Palmon, Gomamon, Patamon, and Gatomon, the latest addition to the kind of global theater collectibles we track on our Movie Theater Popcorn Buckets hub.
Each bucket measures roughly 15×30 cm, close to 6 inches by 12 inches, and comes packaged with a regular-sized popcorn and one random character keychain, sold blind alongside the randomly assigned egg design. A full set runs 25,900 Korean Won, about $18.80 USD. The circular base of each bucket is styled after the ground at File Island’s Primary Village, also known as the Village of Beginnings, a nice bit of theming pulled straight from the anime’s own setting rather than just a generic stand.
The eight partner Digimon featured across the set are Agumon, Gabumon, Biyomon, Tentomon, Palmon, Gomamon, Patamon, and Gatomon, each with its own distinct egg pattern and matching keychain.
The two films getting this rerelease both date back to the very start of the franchise. Digimon Adventure is the 1999 short film that tells the origin story behind the whole series, following Tai and Kari’s first encounter with a Digimon years before the events of the TV series, as Greymon squares off against the invading Parrotmon to protect their hometown. Digimon Adventure: Our War Game! followed in 2000 as a direct sequel, picking up a year later when a virus Digimon called Diaboromon starts attacking the internet, forcing the DigiDestined and their partners to reach a new level of Digivolution to stop him before he brings down every communications network on the planet. Both films were directed by Mamoru Hosoda, who later became known for Summer Wars, a film he’s cited Our War Game! as a direct influence on.
For fans in the US who want to watch either film, both are available on Blu-ray through the Crunchyroll Store and Amazon, either as part of the three-movie Digimon the Movies set or the standalone Digimon Adventure Movies 1 and 2 release, both featuring a new uncut dub with the original cast. Neither film is currently streaming on a major US platform. Viewers who grew up on the original 2000 English dub may also remember both stories folded into Digimon: The Movie, the localized theatrical release that combined and re-edited footage from both films along with a third for its American release.
Pre-sale runs exclusively through the Korean Megabox app from September 10 through September 20, 2026, limited to one set per person. Orders can then be picked up at designated Megabox theaters starting at noon on September 23, with pickup available through October 31.
Since this release is exclusive to Korean Megabox locations, it’s not something US fans can walk up and buy directly. The realistic options are secondhand listings on eBay once buyers start reselling them, or using a package forwarding service that buys the item on your behalf in Korea and ships it internationally- the same approach collectors use for other region-exclusive theater merchandise.
