The Walt Disney World entrance sign at the intersection of SR 535 and Buena Vista Drive, right next to Disney Springs, is currently being refurbished, with Minnie’s side getting a full repaint. This is a routine maintenance process Disney does periodically, not anything out of the ordinary. The sign features Mickey on one side and Minnie on the other, and we got a look at the repaint mid-progress, with Minnie’s bow being carefully touched up as part of the work.
The timing has fed some rumors online that this entrance sign could eventually be removed entirely, tied to the ongoing I-4 and SR 535 interchange project happening just across the road. That construction includes realigning the I-4 westbound entrance ramp, building a new loop ramp from SR 535 northbound to westbound I-4, and lengthening the I-4 westbound exit ramp back to SR 535, part of a broader effort by the Florida Department of Transportation to ease the chronic backups in this stretch near Disney Springs and Hotel Plaza Boulevard. None of that officially touches this particular sign, and nothing from Disney or FDOT confirms it’s going anywhere.
If Disney were actually planning to remove or relocate this sign because of the road project, investing in a full repaint of it right now would be a strange use of time and money. Standard refurbishment work happening at the same time as nearby road construction is a coincidence of timing more than anything else, and it’s the kind of maintenance Disney does on entrance signage across the property on a regular cycle.
