A brand new restaurant and bar is opening at Disney’s BoardWalk on October 1, the exact day Walt Disney World turns 55 years old, and the timing isn’t a coincidence. Hurly-Burly is stepping into a role similar to the one Steakhouse 71 played at the Contemporary Resort back in 2021, when that restaurant opened on Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary to the day.
We first wrote about Hurly-Burly when Disney announced new experiences coming to Disney’s BoardWalk back in June, and Disney Parks Blog has now confirmed the opening date alongside a first look at the menu. If you wanna see what the new logo and merch will look like for the WDW55.
The concept is built around the BoardWalk’s own history. Hurly-Burly takes over a space Disney describes as a historic seaside theater, once home to some of the BoardWalk’s most celebrated vaudeville performers nearly a century ago, and it’s reopening with that same turn-of-the-century, nautical-novelty spirit. Afternoons bring family-friendly trivia and games, while evenings shift to a 21-and-up scene starting at 9 p.m. with live music.
Landing the opening on October 1 puts Hurly-Burly in a genuinely small club. Steakhouse 71 opened at the Contemporary Resort on October 1, 2021, timed to the exact start of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration, and its name was a direct nod to the resort’s 1971 opening year. Five years later, Hurly-Burly is stepping into that same kind of anniversary-day launch, even if Disney hasn’t framed it with the same fanfare Steakhouse 71 got heading into the 50th.
The food leans into shareable, old-school boardwalk fare. Small bites include Meatballs in Tomato Gravy, an Antipasto board, Mini Pretzels with Bacon-Cheese Fondue, Tomato Pie, Oven-Roasted Shrimp, Roast Beef Sliders, a Theater Concessions plate of meatballs, cookie, and popcorn, and Mini Apple Cider Doughnuts for dessert. On the drink side, guests 21 and up can order cocktails like the Mertini, a gin martini built on Plymouth Navy Strength Gin, the Overproof Amaretto Sour made with Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style Bourbon, and La Taquilla Picante, a spicy margarita finished with a spiced nutmeg rim. There’s a full wine list and a beer, cider, and hard seltzer selection too, alongside non-alcoholic options like the Caramel Corn Cold Brew and the Overture in Orange frozen treat. A walk-up window will also serve a shorter selection of drinks for guests strolling the BoardWalk without sitting down.
Hurly-Burly will operate as walk-up only, with no reservations required, and all offerings are subject to change and availability once it opens.
