Zootopia 2 pulled in 32 million views globally in its first seven days on Disney+, landing at No. 1 on the platform during its premiere week.
The number is a big deal on its own, but it looks even bigger when you stack it against the full franchise. Zootopia, Zootopia+, and Zootopia 2 have now been streamed a combined 885 million hours worldwide. That is not a small audience keeping this world alive.
The Disney+ debut follows a historic theatrical run. As we covered back in January, Zootopia 2 became the highest-grossing animated film of all time under the Motion Picture Association’s classification, finishing with $1.9 billion worldwide. It ranked eighth among the highest-grossing films ever made and was the No. 1 domestic release of 2025. And that run started fast. Zootopia 2 reached $1 billion globally faster than any animated film before it, which is a number that still feels a little hard to believe.

The original Zootopia won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2017 and has never really left the cultural conversation. It currently sits at No. 7 on the all-time Disney+ most-watched list, and according to Nielsen, it ranked among the most-streamed movies across all platforms in the U.S. for three out of the last six years. The sequel now has a real shot at climbing that same list.
The franchise has also grown well beyond the screen. The Zootopia-themed land at Shanghai Disney Resort is the highest-rated attraction at Shanghai Disneyland, with one in four guests saying they came specifically for that land. Over 4.8 million Zootopia Pawpsicles have been sold there to date. On the merchandise side, collectibles and blind boxes from brands like Pop Mart and Miniso have driven viral demand, and the carrot pen on DisneyStore.com sold out twice.
When we previewed the Disney+ premiere earlier this month, we noted that the film arrives on the platform with a rare combination of critical praise, audience enthusiasm, and box office history behind it. The first-week numbers confirm that the combination carried right into the streaming debut.
