The Muppets Make Triumphant Return to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. After the heartbreaking closing of Muppetvision 3D last year, just yesterday, the old Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster officially closed to make way for the return of the Muppets to Hollywood Studios. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, previously themed around the band Aerosmith, has shut down and will be rethemed to fit the Muppets’ very own Electric Mayhem Band. The ride is set to reopen sometime in the summer of this year, with no specific date given yet. This morning, walls were constructed, the Aerosmith theming was removed, and Future Home Of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring The Muppets was added to the guide map.

Muppetvision 3D was originally the place to go for anything Muppet-related in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but 267 days ago, the show and courtyard were shut down to make room for Monstropolis, a Monsters Inc. themed area. Still, thankfully, we were also given the news that the Muppets wouldn’t be leaving the parks forever; they would return to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. All of this had taken place during the Muppets’ 70th Anniversary celebration.

Walls surrounding the ride have gone up, and even the Hollywood Studios map now says “Future Home of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets.” The walls surrounding the ride feature promotional images of what the ride’s entrance will look like when it reopens this summer. Signs are also placed around the courtyard, “We’re Moving Right Along,” alluding to the new band loading in.
