Once a year on Fat Tuesday, something unexpected rolls through the pathways of Walt Disney World, and unless you’re in the know, you might miss it completely.
It’s called the Pargo Parade, and it’s one of Disney’s best-kept Mardi Gras traditions. The annual Mardi Gras Pargo Parade at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort only happens once a year, and this year it happens February 17th. It’s a guest-favorite tradition that turns golf carts into colorful parade floats, made by Cast Members of the two resorts, and once it’s over, you’ll have to wait another year to see it again. Plus, you may even see a Disney Princess riding a carriage to lead things off!
We have gone every year and will be attending once again. We are here to share the 2026 Pargo Parade schedule, along with the full day of planned events at Disney World’s Port Orleans French Quarter, which includes costume contests and a full-blown Mardi gras celebration to end the night.
What Makes the Pargo Parade Special
This isn’t a typical Disney parade.
The “pargos” are decorated golf carts designed by cast members. Many have moving parts, detailed paint work, and themed costumes to match. Because it only happens on Fat Tuesday, it has that limited-time energy you don’t get anywhere else at Walt Disney World.
Guests line the pathways, collect beads and candy, and cheer as each cart rolls by. It feels local. It feels festive. And it feels different from anything inside the theme parks. Once it has passed, you have a few hours to vote for your favorite!
Getting to Port Orleans: Plan Ahead
Parking can be very limited on parade day.
If you’re not staying at Port Orleans, your best option is to use Disney transportation.
Here are the easiest ways:
- Take a Disney bus from any theme park or Disney Springs to Port Orleans Riverside or French Quarter
- Use Disney Springs and transfer via boat to Port Orleans (weather permitting)
- If staying at another Disney resort, use internal bus transportation rather than driving
- Our tip: We park at Epcot and take the Disney Bus, because once the parade is done, we need a good ride on Guardians of the Galaxy!
Resort parking is often restricted to registered guests during popular events. Arrive early and allow extra time.
Mardi Gras Pargo Parade – Tuesday, February 17
The parade takes place at both sides of the resort:
10:30 AM – Port Orleans Riverside
Parade begins near Building 80
11:30 AM – Port Orleans French Quarter
Parade begins near Building 7
This year’s theme is “Heroes vs. Villains.” Expect cast members to go all out with decorated pargos (golf carts), music, beads, and plenty of Mardi Gras flair.
It’s one of the most unique resort events at Walt Disney World. The parade winds through guest areas, so you don’t need a park ticket to enjoy it. Just be in the right place at the right time.
