Update: Guest Dies from ‘Multiple Blunt Injuries’ After Riding Stardust Racers at Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe. A guest was found unresponsive after riding Stardust Racers on Wednesday, 9/17/2025, at the newly opened Epic Universe at Universal Orlando.

Multiple blunt impact injuries have been ruled the cause of death for the man found unresponsive on an Epic Universe ride on Wednesday, according to the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office. The manner of death has been ruled an accident.

*Multiple blunt injuries refer to two or more simultaneous physical injuries caused by dull objects or forces rather than sharp ones, such as from a motor vehicle accident, fall, or assault.

The unnamed guest (The name has since been released) was later pronounced dead at the local hospital. WESH 2 Orlando, which was on the scene, reported a crime scene investigation, with law enforcement and a forensic team on site. An autopsy was performed on Thursday morning, after which Chief Medical Examiner Joshua Stephany, M.D., with Orange and Osceola counties, stated that the cause of death was “multiple blunt impact injuries.”

Stardust Racer will remain closed until the investigation is completed.

The incident took place on Wednesday night, September 17, 2025, when the guest was riding the Stardust Racers roller coaster at the Universal Orlando Resorts park and became unresponsive in the middle of the ride, according to a statement from Universal Orlando Resorts. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has not released the name or age of the guest.

Statement from Universal spokesperson to WESH

Universal is cooperating with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office following a tragic event involving a guest at Epic Universe on Wednesday night. A Spokesperson commented: “We are devastated by this event and extend our sincerest sympathies to the guest’s loved ones,” said Universal Orlando Resorts. “We are fully committed to cooperating with this ongoing investigation.”

Epic Universe and Stardust Racers opened on May 22nd, 2025. It is the newest theme park to open in the US. Epic Universe is the fourth theme park to open as part of Universal Orlando.
