A new Banana Ball documentary is coming to Disney+ and Hulu in fall 2027. The music-driven film tells the story of the Savannah Bananas and Banana Ball, with 11 original songs from Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the songwriters behind The Greatest Showman.
The movie follows Banana Ball’s 10-year story. It starts small in Savannah, Georgia, and ends with the league known as “The Greatest Show in Sports.” Fans will get a look at the players, the people and the fans behind it. Pasek and Paul also wrote the songs for Dear Evan Hansen, and they have won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony. Other songwriters on the film include Ashley Gorley and Savannah Bananas owner Jesse Cole. David Beilinson directed it. Connor Schell’s Words + Pictures and Pasek and Paul’s company, Ampersand, produced it.
The news came with another one. The Banana Ball Open is coming to Walt Disney World April 15 to 18, 2027, and the ticket lottery closes October 31. We are baseball purists, so Banana Ball is not really our thing, but please, someone try to convince us, we feel like we are missing out on something. But a baseball movie with 11 songs from the Greatest Showman team is a fun idea, and we will at least watch the trailer. Find more Disney+ news.
