It’s the season of the witch. The Good Witch, that is. Just in time for Halloween, Hallmark+ is streaming all 12 Good Witch movies along with all seven seasons of the Good Witch series. Good Witch leans into Halloween themes and vibes, and it is perfect viewing for this time of year. Good Witch is the story of Cassie Nightingale and how she uses her “abilities” to bring positivity to those around her in the town of Middleton. The story began with the first movie in 2008 and wrapped with season 7 of the series in 2021.
The first seven movies star Catherine Bell and Chris Potter. Catherine Bell plays Cassie, who moves into Middleton’s supposedly haunted Grey House and opens a shop in town called Bell, Book & Candle. She is met with opposition at first, but she eventually wins over the town and finds love. Potter plays Middleton Chief of Police Jake Russell.
After the seven original movies, Good Witch came back in 2015 as a weekly series that ran for seven seasons and added five more movies, each one a Halloween special. This time, Cassie is mourning the loss of her husband, Jake. She meets her new neighbor, Dr. Sam Radford, played by James Denton. The series focuses on Cassie raising her daughter, Grace, played by Bailee Madison, and finding love again.
Bell and Denton have a chemistry in the series that is hard to miss. They went on to star together in the Countdown to Christmas movie Christmas on Cherry Lane. The supporting cast is a solid unit, and it is full of Hallmark favorites. Dan Jeannotte, Rebecca Dalton, Katherine Barrell, and Sarah Power all appear in Good Witch. Peter MacNeill plays the lovable grandpa who is always there for his family. Catherine Disher brings comedic gold to every scene she is in.
