Walt Disney Animation Studios is putting Hexed on display before the film even reaches theaters. Days ahead of The Magic of Disney Animation’s official September 14 opening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the attraction’s Gallery Wrap Party room has been turned over entirely to concept art, character reveals, and props from the studio’s November 25 release.
A Room Built to Change With Every New Film – Guests reach the Gallery Wrap Party after leaving Olaf Draws! Across the room guests will see a framed, painted tree roots arching overhead, with a gold tile mosaic underneath depicting a sun, a tree, a crescent moon, and stars, all wrapped in trailing ivy. The design mirrors the look of Hexe, the witch realm at the center of Hexed’s story, and sets the tone before a single piece of art is visible.
Most of The Magic of Disney Animation is built to stay put. The animator’s desk display, the character meet and greet rooms, and the Treasures Untold prop gallery presented by Pandora are all fixed experiences. The Gallery Wrap Party room works differently. Right now it belongs to Hexed, but Imagineering has said the space is designed to rotate with each new Walt Disney Animation Studios release, meaning Frozen III, Zootopia 3, and Clay will eventually get their own turn behind the same archway.
What’s on Display – A “Gallery” sign hangs over the entrance with a “Wrap Party!” banner draped beneath it, and a “Now Showing” wall next to the doorway holds the Hexed teaser poster, complete with its November release date and a callout to the studio behind Frozen and Zootopia. Inside, a corkboard holds hand-drawn storyboard panels tracking Billie’s first encounters with the residents and creatures of Hexe, alongside a full-color script sequence that follows the shift from her autumn hometown into the surreal light and color of the witch realm. A placard beside the boards explains both tools in plain terms, framing them as steps artists use to work out staging, camera movement, and mood before animation begins.
Two lit display cases hold the rest of the reveal. Concept paintings show the town of Hexe in glowing jewel tones, paired with black and white architectural sketches of its rooftops and root-covered bridges. A prop replica of the leather-bound “Hexe” book sits open to illustrated pages, the same book that greets new arrivals in the story.
Character cards introduce Billie Doe, voiced by Hailee Steinfeld and described as an impulsive 16-year-old who discovers she has secret magical abilities, and her mother Alice Doe, voiced by Rashida Jones and described as no longer able to protect her daughter from what the two of them uncover together. Concept art traces Billie’s look from her school uniform into the red hooded coat she wears once she crosses into Hexe.
Also on display is Beef Roger Crummchuk, the three-eyed cat voiced by Walton Goggins, shown across full turnaround model sheets and expression studies, with a card describing him as a reclusive character who forms an uneasy alliance with Billie and Alice. Nearby is Bucket, an enchanted cauldron billed as Billie’s unexpected but loyal companion, shown floating through concept art of a moss covered forest room, next to a full model sheet tracking how his shape and personality were refined. Elias Quire, the magical journal voiced by Stephen Fry, appears as a physical book prop alongside an “Entry Questionnaire” card with its yes and no boxes checked, a small hint at how new arrivals are greeted at the edge of Hexe. A separate set of concept paintings introduces a trio of witches and a silver haired figure in a floor length purple gown, matching the look already reported for Jodie Foster’s villain, Queen Celeste, though her character card was not part of this display.
Our Take – This is the kind of access Imagineering rarely gives fans before a movie’s marketing machine has fully kicked in, and it works in Hexed’s favor. Seeing Beef Roger Crummchuk’s turnaround sheets next to Billie’s costume evolution and that color script makes the film feel like an original, not a retread of Wish or Encanto. If this room really does rotate with every new release the way Disney says it will, it could become one of the best stops at Walt Disney World for an early read on what Animation is working on next.
