Snowbound for the Holidays Review Vanessa Lengies and Marcus Rosner Premiere Tonight on Hallmark Channel

Cassidy Evergreen (Lengies) is an ambitious guest services manager at her family’s boutique hotel company who is determined to prove she’s ready for the next step in her career.  Her mother – and boss – Joanne (Kathryn Greenwood) sends her to Ridgeford Valley to evaluate the future of the charming but struggling Linden Lodge.  Upon arriving, she meets Trey Sanderson (Rosner), the lodge’s devoted co-owner who is doing everything he can to preserve it.  Alongside his spirited daughter, Lilly (Skywalker Hughes), Trey is working tirelessly to keep the lodge’s beloved holiday traditions alive, including the town’s annual Christmas Festival.

As Cassidy becomes part of the festivities – from untangling Christmas lights and snow tubing adventures to helping Lilly sell holiday wish lanterns for charity – she begins to discover the magic that makes Linden Lodge so special.  Along the way, Cassidy finds herself drawn to Trey, Lilly, and the close-knit community that gathers there each Christmas season.  But when outside pressures threaten the future of the lodge, Cassidy must decide what truly matters most. The charm runs deep throughout this as Cassidy works hard to bring the Linden Lodge into the current age. She is fully digital, and Trey is hesitant and analog. Somewhere in the middle, they meet. Cassidy wants everything on her tablet and easily accessible, and Trey wants it done the way it’s been done for ages.

Vanessa Lengies brings the charm and bubbliness that she brings to all of her Hallmark Channel movies. Marcus Rosner is always the consummate leading man. They bring what we as Hallmark fans have come to expect from their performances. You will not be disappointed by Vanessa and Marcus.

We got a chance to sit down and talk to Vanessa and Marcus and asked what we wanted to know most: how much fun was that snowtubing scene? Marcus told us, “we were definitely both actually doing all the tubing many, many times, and we to like set the camera in different configurations, but yeah, I know Vanessa and I were running up and down that hill for like 3 hours as they dragged the tubes back up for us, and it was legitimately an extremely fun and sweaty day.”

Vanessa spoke about what she wanted fans to take away from the movie. “I think the fans are going to see Marcus and I having a really good time. I mean, we filmed this in the dead of winter. It was so freaking cold.” This brought the cast and crew together. She continued, “Because of that, we were all huddled together. The crew was close by. Everyone was living in this lodge and the surrounding city. We really were in this bubble together, having such a great time. I think that is really going to shine through.” She told us, “I think that Marcus and I found magic together while we were filming.”

Snowbound for the Holidays is director Christopher Giroux’s Hallmark’s directorial debut. He has previously been the producer on many Hallmark movies. Of all the movies that Vanessa Lengies has been in on Hallmark Channel, Christopher has been a producer on. Marcus has also worked with him in past endeavors. The way this movie is shot, and the fun that translates, really are a testament to Christopher’s vision on this project.

When asked what brings them back to working with Christopher, Marcus joked, “Money!” Then goes on to say, “Chris produces, or had for a long time, for a company called Vortex Productions, which is based in Ontario, and they do a lot of these movies. This was his directorial debut, but he had produced like 40 films for them before.” “This was his first time stepping into the director’s chair. He was very excited about it. I know that it helped inspire me to do the best job that I could.”

Our take on Snowbound for the Holidays is that while it follows the tried-and-true romcom formula, it is a fun watch and should be on your holiday watchlist. Vanessa and Marcus really bring heart and fun to this film. What I got out of this was that analog can meet digital in the middle. Marcus liked that thesis: “I like that aspect about it that it was sort of exploring this subtext of new versus old on top of the tried-and-true save the ski hill storyline.”

You can watch more Christmas in July next week with the premiere of Jen Lilley and Nick Bateman’s Love Under The Mistletoe next Saturday. Check out our reviews for O Little Christmas Market and Christmas Under Construction.
