Photos making the rounds on social media show Kevin Heffernan, who is best known as the loud, obnoxious, and thoroughly lovable Trooper Rod “Farva,” sitting in a Marcus Theatres auditorium in full Vermont Highway Patrol uniform, wearing a green campaign hat bearing the familiar trooper badge. The Broken Lizard Instagram account shared the moment with the caption, “Something special is coming soon. But for meow…” leaning hard into the franchise’s most iconic running gag.
The first photo tells the real story for collectors. A stack of five brown campaign hats, the wide-brimmed flat-crown style sometimes nicknamed the “Smokey Bear hat” with Vermont Highway Patrol badges attached, is piled on a red theater seat. Five hats. Five troopers. That’s not a coincidence.
If you look at the lead image and the image posted by Broken Lizard, you can see a smaller, greener hat on Trooper Rod “Farva’s” head.
