A baby giraffe, a nyala calf, four red river hog piglets, and the first Ankole calf born at Walt Disney World in more than 20 years have all arrived at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge this spring, and most of them will be viewable by guests this summer.
This is genuinely one of the most exciting Animal Kingdom updates in recent memory. Five baby animals across two locations, each with their own story, each currently in backstage care getting stronger and bonding with their moms before making their public debuts. If you are planning a summer trip to Walt Disney World, you are going to want to time Kilimanjaro Safaris right.

A Baby Girl Giraffe Is Coming to Kilimanjaro Safaris
The star of the bunch is a female Masai giraffe calf born earlier this spring at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. She arrived at approximately 120 pounds and standing nearly six feet tall, which sounds enormous until you remember she is a baby giraffe. Her mom, Willow, has not left her side.

“She’s already had her first checkup and is doing great, so mom is happily in charge,” said Bri, an animal keeper at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. “Right now, she’s rarely far from her side, following her around the barn, exploring her surroundings and learning something new every day.”
She does not have a public name yet, but she does have a famous half-brother. She will join fan favorite Tucker, her half-brother who was born in 2025, when she makes her debut on Kilimanjaro Safaris this summer. Masai giraffes are classified as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, which makes every healthy birth a genuinely meaningful moment beyond the adorable factor.
Parker the Nyala Calf Is Already Working on His Signature Look

Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, a male nyala calf named Parker has arrived and is busy figuring out savanna life. Nyala calves are born with white stripes and spots that help them blend into tall grass, and as he grows, Parker will develop a darker coat and the iconic spiral horns that make male nyalas so distinctive. Male and female nyalas look so different from each other that they are considered one of the most visually distinct antelope species around.
Four Red River Hog Piglets Are Already Exploring

If one baby animal is great, four baby animals is better. Red river hog piglets Mason, Cooper, and Phillip, born to mom Clementine, plus Demi, born shortly after to mom Persimmon, are starting to explore their savanna habitat at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. They are described as full of personality, which is exactly what you would expect from four small hogs discovering the world together. They are sticking close to their moms for now, which is honestly very sweet.
Meet Mabel, a Historic First for Walt Disney World

And then there is Mabel. Mabel is the first Ankole calf born at Walt Disney World in more than 20 years, and she is already thriving under Disney’s animal care team. Ankole cattle are famous for their dramatic, sweeping horns — Mabel does not have them yet, but she will grow into a genuinely unforgettable animal. The fact that this birth has not happened at Walt Disney World in two decades makes her arrival something special.
When Can You See Them at Animal Kingdom?
All five of these animals are currently spending time backstage bonding with their moms and building strength before their public debuts. Disney has confirmed that the baby giraffe and the other new arrivals will be viewable on the savannas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge this summer. If a Kilimanjaro Safaris ride with a baby giraffe in the mix sounds like the best possible way to spend a morning at the park, it probably is.
Disney’s animal care team works with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan to support healthy animal populations, and the Disney Conservation Fund has directed more than $141 million to community conservation programs since 1995. These five new arrivals are part of that ongoing commitment, even when they are very small and very cute about it.
Our Take: We love baby animal season at Animal Kingdom, and there is nothing quite like being on Kilimanjaro Safaris when a young one wanders into view. The whole vehicle goes quiet for half a second and then erupts. The ooh’s and aahs are completely uncontrollable and absolutely worth the trip. Five new arrivals across Animal Kingdom and Animal Kingdom Lodge this summer mean there are a lot of those moments ahead, and we could not be more here for it.
We will keep an eye on debut timing as Disney confirms dates this summer. Stay with Fantasy Land News for all things Walt Disney World. Join the Realm at fantasylandnews.com/the-realm.
