The Best $1.00 You’ll Spend This Summer: Regal’s Family Film Series Runs Through August 13

Regal’s Summer Movie Express 2026 kicks off June 1 at more than 380 Regal theaters nationwide and runs through August 13 with eleven weeks of $1.00 family-friendly films showing every Monday through Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Two PG-rated films screen each week at that price, and a portion of every ticket sold benefits Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Regal has run the Summer Movie Express program since 1991, and this summer’s lineup is one of the deepest it has put together.

The Best 0 You'll Spend This Summer: Regal's Family Film Series Runs Through August 13

If you have been following Regal’s programming in 2026, you know this is how they operate. The chain ran 28 music-driven films all of May for $4.99 each through their Musical Mayhem series, and now Summer Movie Express picks up right where that value run leaves off. For families, the math is almost too good. Four mornings a week, two movies, one dollar each.

The lineup runs as follows. Week 1, June 1-4, opens with Sing (2016) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023). Week 2, June 8-11, pairs Kung Fu Panda 4 (2024) with David (2025). Week 3, June 15-18, brings the KPop Demon Hunters Sing-Along (2025) alongside The Wild Robot (2024). Week 4, June 22-25, screens The Bad Guys 2 (2025) and The Garfield Movie (2024). Week 5, June 29-July 2, puts A Minecraft Movie (2025) with Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022).

Week 6, July 6-9, arrives right on the heels of The Mandalorian and Grogu’s May 22 theatrical opening and pairs How to Train Your Dragon (2025) with Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024). If you are still riding that Star Wars high from opening weekend, Regal has been making it easy to stay in their seats all summer long — the chain’s exclusive Clan of Two Bust collectible popcorn container is one of the most impressive theater exclusives they have ever offered, and Summer Movie Express is a reminder of how seriously Regal has leaned into being a destination this year.

Week 7, July 13-16, pairs a title still to be announced with Scoob! (2020). Week 8, July 20-23, brings The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants (2025) and Animal Farm (2026). Week 9, July 27-30, screens Paddington in Peru (2025) and Dog Man (2025). Week 10, August 3-6, pairs Charlie the Wonderdog (2026) with Despicable Me 4 (2024).

Then comes Week 11, and Muppet fans need to pay attention.

Week 11, August 10-13, closes the entire Summer Movie Express with The Sandlot (1993) and Muppet Treasure Island (1996). That second title is a genuinely big deal. The Disney-produced Muppet film, directed by Brian Henson and starring Tim Curry as Long John Silver alongside Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, and Rizzo, has not had a wide theatrical release since it originally opened on February 16, 1996. That is thirty years. The 30th anniversary was just celebrated this past February, and this SMX slot gives Muppet fans something the anniversary itself could not: an actual ticket to see Kermit in command of the Hispaniola on a proper movie screen.

Songs like “Cabin Fever” and “Shiver My Timbers” were written for a big room and a big crowd. If you have kids who only know the Muppets from Disney+, this is the one to take them to. For longtime fans who grew up with the VHS, seeing it projected in a theater for the first time since the Clinton administration is not a small thing, and Regal is offering it for a dollar.

Ticket buyers at any Summer Movie Express showtime also receive two discounted concession options: $3.00 off a cup of Dippin’ Dots or a Snack Pack that includes a junior-sized drink, popcorn, and fruit gummies. Advance tickets are available now at the box office, on the Regal app, and at REGmovies.com. Regal Unlimited members can also reserve SMX seats as part of their monthly subscription.

Regal’s Summer Movie Express Returns June 1, 2026, with Eleven Weeks of $1.00 Family Films — Including a Rare Chance to See Muppet Treasure Island on the Big Screen.
