Walt Disney Animation Studios officially revealed Hexed at the Walt Disney Studios CinemaCon 2026 presentation today, April 16, unveiling the title, logo, story details, and voice cast for the new animated film opening only in theaters on November 25, 2026. The November 25 date puts Hexed squarely on Thanksgiving weekend, one of the biggest moviegoing windows of the year. It was among several major reveals from Walt Disney Studios at CinemaCon today, alongside the final trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu and the first trailer for Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars.

Hexed follows Billie, a young woman who discovers she is a witch and wants to pursue her powers, while her mother Alice, has serious reservations about that path. Hailee Steinfeld voices Billie, and Rashida Jones voices Alice. The film is a Walt Disney Animation Studios production and has been on our radar as part of the 2026 Disney slate since it was first announced.
The title logo features the name Hexed in glowing gold lettering alongside a crescent moon, giving the film a mystical, slightly spooky visual identity that fits well with its Thanksgiving release window heading into the holiday season.
Our Take
A mother-daughter story built around a young woman discovering she is a witch is exactly the kind of original premise Disney Animation excels at when it lets the character drive the story. Hailee Steinfeld has the vocal range and personality for a lead like Billie, and Rashida Jones as the skeptical mother is smart casting. Could this be a return to the Disney Animation musicals of the 80s and 90s?
Thanksgiving weekend means Hexed will be competing for family audiences at peak capacity. If the animation style and early footage land well, this could be the surprise of Disney’s fall slate. November 25 is circled.
