Walt Disney World’s spring Easter egg display tradition is back for 2026, and The Contemporary Resort went all-in on a full Muppets theme. A full-size chocolate sculpture of Miss Piggy stands at the center, wearing a silver gown, a pearl necklace, long white gloves, and a crystal pendant. Around her, arched display cases hold hand-crafted egg sculptures of nearly a dozen characters, each one built by a member of Disney’s culinary team. It is easily one of the most detailed displays the resort has put together in years.
The Muppets are having a real moment right now. The Muppet Show 2026 special premiered on Disney+ and ABC on February 4, drew nearly 8 million viewers in its first eight days, and landed a 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Choosing this franchise for The Contemporary’s spring display was a natural call.
The Full Cast, Egg by Egg. The display was built by Disney’s culinary cast members, each of whom signed their work with a small placard. Miss Piggy is the clear focal point, sculpted in chocolate at full scale. Her blue eyes, flowing golden hair, sparkling bracelet, and bow-detailed gown are all accounted for, and the expression on her face is exactly what you would expect from the diva herself.
The egg sculptures fan out on both sides of her, set inside arched cases trimmed in ornate white molding and gold detail that mirror the look of a classic theatre stage. Going left to right across the full display:
Sam the Eagle opens the lineup in his trademark steely blue, wearing an American flag top hat. Sweetums fills the next case, his shaggy brown fur, yellow eyes, and wide orange beak making him one of the most visually striking pieces in the whole display. Kermit the Frog sits in vivid green against a deep purple backdrop, collar and all. The Swedish Chef comes next, chef’s toque on, mustache in full force, with a red rose placed at the base of his case. On the other side of Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear grins from beneath his top hat against a blue background. Beaker towers in his case, all orange hair and wide-eyed panic in his lab coat. Dr. Bunsen Honeydew follows in pea green with his round glasses and a red tie poking out from his white coat. Animal closes things out in dark red, teeth bared, looking like he has somewhere to be.
Statler and Waldorf Get Their Own Stage Box. Across from the egg lineup sits what might be the best piece in the entire display. Statler and Waldorf are sculpted in chocolate and placed inside a large crimson theatre balcony box, leaning over the railing exactly the way they do in the show. The box is decorated with gold rope trim, scrollwork, and an ornate center medallion. Their facial expressions are spot-on, down to the squinting skepticism they have spent decades perfecting.
The placard credits culinary cast members Brandie, Carissa, and Donald for the piece.
Why the Timing Makes Sense. The 2026 Muppet Show special brought Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the full cast back to the original Muppet Theatre alongside Sabrina Carpenter, with Seth Rogen serving as a guest star and executive producer. Director Alex Timbers, known for his Broadway work, oversaw the production. The result was a hit on both the critical and viewership side.
As we covered in February, 7.58 million people watched the special across ABC and Disney+ in its first eight days, and fans have been pushing for a full series order ever since. Against that backdrop, seeing the Muppets get the full Easter display treatment at one of Walt Disney World’s flagship resorts feels well-timed.
Let’s not even talk about Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring The Muppets, which is under construction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! The Muppets are being removed from The Muppet Courtyard, or that we may soon see Muppet Vision 3D appear on Apple Vision Pro!
Where to Find It and What to Know
The display is inside The Contemporary Resort’s lobby. No park ticket is required to see it, and there is no admission charge. The Contemporary sits right on the Magic Kingdom monorail line, so it is a straightforward stop before or after a day in the park. The Yacht & Beach Club and The Grand Floridian also have their own Easter egg displays this spring, each one created by a separate culinary team with a different theme.
All three displays are up during Walt Disney World’s spring season, leading into Easter. If you are visiting the resort between now and the holiday, any of these three hotel lobbies is worth a stop.
