While US theaters are staying quiet for now, we’ve done the detective work to find out what you’ll be holding while Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi head to the stars.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is an animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is produced by Chris Meledandri of Illumination and Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo. The film will be co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo and will be released worldwide by Universal Pictures. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is directed by returning filmmakers Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, from a screenplay by returning screenwriter Matthew Fogel, with Brian Tyler returning to compose the score. We have an inside scoop on some of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie popcorn buckets and movie tie-in collectibles coming to theaters to share with you. Subject to change, this is not the complete list, and some may change prior to coming out. Nothing official has been released by US Theaters. But we have scoured the interwebs, forums, talked to insiders, and done our homework to bring you the first list.
We know ZINC will be making premium popcorn buckets, like a Yoshi popcorn bucket, and a Light-up Star/Luma bucket. There is reportedly a Mushroom bucket also in the works. Along with the normal amount of Tins and Cup toppers. Other manufacturers like Golden Link Inc will be making plastic tubs and cups. PCO Group International has shown an image of the kids combo, see below.
Let’s start with the lead image, the first part is from Cinemex (Cadena de cines en México), which shows 6 different cups, tumblers, and popcorn buckets in silhouettes. Some are easy to figure out, like the Star Tumbler and themed cup. While other shapes may be harder to figure out. Top Row – Themed Cup, mushroom sipper, themed popcorn bucket. Second Row – Star sipper, Lakitu Cloud bucket, top view looking down Yoshi (we think top view of Yoshi). These may not be coming to US theaters, as always, we will do a full round-up of international buckets.
When The Super Mario Bros. Movie was released in 2023, US theaters sold some popcorn buckets and cups. Mostly they were tins and plastic buckets, like the AMC ? Block tin, and look at the price of $14.99! We got the Mario, Luigi, and Bowser plastic tub.
While we wait for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie to be released on April 1st, locally, here at Universal Orlando EPIC Universe, The Super Nintendo Land has some Mario popcorn buckets already available, like a Star Popcorn Bucket and Mario Kart, along with a Mushroom and 1-Up Mushroom drink bottles. We are still waiting for the Yoshi Egg tumbler and Bob-Omb popcorn bucket to come from Universal Japan to the US.
